CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, & DISCUSSION GROUPS

Times to put our heads together. Let’s see what we can do.

The power of speech is sacred… and the spark of connection, transcendent.

Classes, Workshops, discussion and support groups

PHC will host classes, workshops, and discussions led by leading experts on mental fitness, holistic wellness, and the roles that emerging technologies can play. A draft list of potential offerings is organized below as: Workshops, Classes, Discussion and Support groups.

If the quote in the subheader above above sounds lofty, we can say it another way: loneliness and isolation harm people. They harm individuals, neighbors and  democracy because they make it harder for people to relate, to see each other and to hash out and think through our neighborhood’s or our country’s biggest problems. People need people to thrive, to learn, and to be healthy.

Workshops

PHC Workshops are full-day sessions geared to Healers, and focusing on how traditional and emerging healing tools align to inform Mental Fitness. These are interactive sessions where healers can learn about lesser-known healing tools and how they relate to mental health.

Each workshop will include an overview of the healing modality’s history, its scientific or technological foundation, and its relevance to mental health. Each workshop will include demonstrations or access to the tools and equipment, with participants receiving the therapy themselves or observing it being administered. These workshops are not designed as comprehensive training programs preparing individuals to become professional practitioners. Rather, they aim to equip healers and interested community members with the knowledge to make good decisions, and to guide people to resources that might help them. Workshops may also benefit those considering a career in healing, and interested in having a thorough overview of the practice before going further.

Workshop registration will be open first to Healer Members, but will also be open to the public.

Workshops. We’re hearing a lot of great workshop ideas from Healers ready to learn! These workshops are currently modeled as 6 -7 hour full day sessions on weekdays. If there are things you’d like to know so you can better inform clients or loved ones, these sessions are for you- drop us a line if you have ideas we haven’t thought of.

Classes

PHC classes cover a broad range of topics and skills related to mental health. They are designed to fit into busy schedules with most sessions lasting only 2 – 3 hours and primarily scheduled in the evenings. By providing access to mental health professionals and accredited healers, participants can gain valuable insights and practical tools to improve their mental well-being. PHC also plans to partner with local institutions to provide a series on “Good citizen skills,” such as First Aid and self-defense. The classes empower participants, enhancing their mental fitness by building, knowledge, confidence and resilience.
Classes and Learning Groups. We’re discussing an exciting list of possible class offerings; open first to members for a discount, and then to the public, the classes and learning groups are a unique and important way for PHC to serve the community.

Discussion & Support Groups

Speech and human connection are therapeutic, fundamentally. Speech is thought made clear and ordered: organizing your thoughts for another person helps us put things into perspective. Our greatest hope is that PHC can give us the tools and space to speak authentically and to connect meaningfully.

PHC is currently modeling two types of discussion groups: some open to just Healers, and others open to everyone. We are currently calling the groups geared toward Healers “Support groups,” and the ones open to the public “Discussion groups.”

All people are welcome to discuss difficult social issues and how they have impacted their mental and emotional health.

The list below has been developed after wonderful discussions with a growing group of amazing people – and we would love to hear your ideas and feedback as well.

Healer Support Groups. The Healer Support groups are free for all Healer Members, and we anticipate requesting a modest $20 honorarium for drop-in participants. If you have ideas for topics or feedback in general, please reach out! What would it help you to talk over?

Community Discussion Groups. These discussions are open to everyone, and are envisioned as places to share feelings and experiences, not to debate what is right or wrong, or good or bad. Any health or wellness professional may attend these sessions for free.

With wars raging all over the world, it’s hard to know how to raise kids- how to make them informed in the least trauma triggering ways possible.

Everyone has little everyday habits and behaviors that trip them up and trigger negative self talk. What do you postpone, ignore, forget about, or dislike? Say those things out loud, and be happy hearing how silly they sound! This isn’t a place to discuss significant trauma or mental illness, but a chance to hang out and brainstorm better everyday habits.
